Lupine Shadows: Rory had felt marginally better after blowing the shit out of a few targets. She had an interview set up for next week to get her back on the field (even if it did mean having a partner for a little while), and then ... then she came home. She wasn't sure it really felt like home any more, and that was something to ponder about. Bypassing the kitchen, she carried her things up to her room. A little while later, she let herself out, showered and changed, to see who was in the kitchen.
Storm and Sorrow: Patch and Warren were sitting at the kitchen table, finishing up a late dinner and chatting. Patch had offered to talk about the Rory Situation, but Warren hadn't wanted to. When he heard someone coming into the kitchen, Warren curiously glanced over and offered Rory a little smile. "Hi."
Lupine Shadows: "Hello," she greeted them both, offering a little smile before she set about seeing what had been for dinner, and getting a plate for herself. "How're you guys doing?"
Storm and Sorrow: "Doing pretty good, thanks," Patch smiled a little, but suddenly felt.. awkward. "I'm okay," he nodded, "How're you?" He asked. "I'm gonna head upstairs," he was done with dinner, so.. yeah, he grinned, picking up his plate and carrying it to the sink before heading out of the kitchen.
Lupine Shadows: "You don't have to go," she called after him, but she figured he'd go, anyway. She stuck her plate in the microwave, leaning against the counter while it heated. "I'm ...fine," she said, which was a lie, but they both knew it was a lie.
Storm and Sorrow: Patch turned back around, "Oh, I know. I just.. I want to hit thirty tonight on my warshade," he grinned and then continued on upstairs. Warren nodded and didn't call her on it. She looked a little better, but he didn't know how to say that without it coming out wrong.
Lupine Shadows: She ran her fingers through her hair, taking her plate out once the microwave beeped. She got a glass of wine, because she felt like she needed it, and she settled down at the table. She gazed across at him. "We should...talk."
Storm and Sorrow: He nodded, "That's probably a good idea," he rested his hands on the table and gazed across at her. "Do you want to start?" He smiled a little.
Lupine Shadows: She shook her head. "I know we should talk. I don't know what we should talk about." She sipped her wine and started eating. "Do you ... do you really want this?" What she meant by this was unclear, even to her.
Storm and Sorrow: He thought for a moment, sighing softly, "I want you, Rory, but.. I feel so bad that you and Roland broke up because of me. I.. I don't know. I want you two to get back together and be happy," he answered honestly.
Lupine Shadows: She truthfully wasn't sure they could get back together and be happy. Because things were going to be different, because of her. Because she'd monumentally fucked things up. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. Because she felt like she'd led him on, and she didn't think she could honestly be with Warren, either.
Storm and Sorrow: "So am I, Rory. If things had been different.." he smiled, a little bittersweetly. "Are.. you going to try to get back with him?" He asked softly, curiously.
Lupine Shadows: "I don't know," she said softly. She wanted to, but she was afraid to. "Maybe I'll just ... fly solo for a little while." She reached across the table to touch his hand gently. "I really am sorry, Warren."
Storm and Sorrow: He turned his hand over to squeeze hers gently, "I know, Rory. I'll be okay, I promise." And he would be. He still wanted her, but.. not like this; it wasn't right.
Lupine Shadows: "We'll all be okay, eventually." She smiled at him. "Thanks," she said softly. "For... understanding."
Storm and Sorrow: He nodded, smiling back at her, squeezing her hand again. "Thank you too," he.. couldn't exactly explain what for. For the brief encounters they'd had and how amazing it had been.
Lupine Shadows: "Can't see how I did much that merits thank yous," she said softly before she drew her hand away to finish eating. She supposed she should go talk to Roland, but...she was afraid.
Storm and Sorrow: He just nodded quietly, "Gonna go see if there's a team I can jump on," he smiled a little to her before he stood up to rinse off his dishes and head upstairs.
Lupine Shadows: She nodded after him, and she really hoped he found someone to take her mind off of her. She rose to refill her wine glass, and she settled back down to finish eating, entirely too absorbed in her thoughts to notice much of anything else.
Storm and Sorrow: "Hi," Roland said softly as he made his way into the kitchen, wanting something to drink. He watched her for a moment before pulling open the fridge.
Lupine Shadows: "Hey," she said quietly as she lifted her head. She swallowed hard as she gazed at him, and then she dropped her eyes back to her plate. But her glass was empty. Oh, damn. She stood up to get the bottle to refill her glass, trailing her fingertips lightly against his back when she passed close to him.
Storm and Sorrow: He shivered when she touched him and he closed his eyes briefly, trying to figure out what it meant. Maybe it was just habit. "How are you?" He asked, his voice a little tight, closing the fridge after getting a bottle of water.
Lupine Shadows: "A little better," she said quietly. "A little terrified," she admitted as she poured her third glass of wine. "How're you?"
Storm and Sorrow: "It varies," he answered honestly as he twisted the cap open and took a drink. He had waves of feeling fine and feeling completely miserable, but mostly he was somewhere in between.
Lupine Shadows: She nodded. She didn't know what to say, or do, so she sipped her wine. "I'm not..." she hesitated. "I'm not ... going to be with him."
Storm and Sorrow: "Why not?" He asked, unsure how he felt about that. All that drama, it seemed like she should be with him. Did she want him back? Did he want her back?
Lupine Shadows: "It ... it doesn't feel right. It isn't right." She couldn't explain it beyond that, so she shrugged. "I fucked up," she admitted quietly. "And I dragged both of you down with me. And I'm sorry." She wished, not for the first time, that she could undo it.
Storm and Sorrow: He nodded slowly, running a hand down his face. "So what.." he cleared his throat, "what are you going to do now?" He asked softly.
Lupine Shadows: She shook her head. "I don't know." She gazed up at him for a moment before she turned away. "Wait until my foot heals, and ... try again, I guess." She drained her wine, and sighed softly.
Storm and Sorrow: He wanted to ask if she wanted to try again with him, but.. if she wanted to, she should be asking him, right? He nodded slowly, "I.." he trailed off and laughed quietly at himself, "don't know what I was going to say."
Lupine Shadows: She nodded, and she rinsed out her glass before she put it in the dishwasher. "I love you," she said quietly. And I miss you, but I'm afraid to say it because if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't take me back, either. She wiped at her cheeks before she turned to head out of the kitchen.
Storm and Sorrow: He didn't think it was fair for her to say that and then try to leave. He just stared after her for a moment, trying to figure out what she meant by that, and if he wanted to find out. "Rory.." he pushed away from the counter, reaching out to catch her arm and tug her gently towards his body.
Lupine Shadows: She let him pull her, though she could have fought it. She pressed lightly against him, her arms slipping around him, her face buried against his chest. But still, she couldn't make herself say it, make herself ask him to come back to her, because he deserved better. Someone who wouldn't jerk him around like she had.
Storm and Sorrow: He wrapped his arms around her, his hands pressing firmly to her back as he held her, breathed in her scent. "I love you too," he whispered softly against her hair, his eyes closed.
Lupine Shadows: "I'm so sorry," she whispered, the words all but lost against his shirt. "I'm so sorry, Roland." She clutched at his back as she fought the threatening tears, and she just held him, and needed him.
Storm and Sorrow: "D'you want me back?" He mumbled against her hair, just holding her tightly against him, his hands caressing her back.
Lupine Shadows: "You deserve better, Roland," she said quietly, which wasn't exactly an answer, but it kind of was. "It ... I don't think..." she drew her head back. "I don't think it'll be the same. Because I screwed it up."
Storm and Sorrow: "It probably wouldn't be the same," he admitted softly as he gazed down at her, "not at first. It could.. I mean .. we could try," he finished, having a hard time putting words to the thoughts he had.
Lupine Shadows: "You'd still want me," she said softly, curiously, lifting her eyes to his. One hand moved to brush his hair back from his forehead as she gazed into his eyes. "I miss you, Roland," she said quietly. "I miss everything about us."
Storm and Sorrow: "I miss you too, Rory," he whispered, biting his lower lip for a moment. "I don't feel right without you," he knew that eventually it would get better, but he didn't want to wait for eventually when he could have her back.
Lupine Shadows: She tilted her chin back a little, her lips parting. She'd been rattled pretty hard by the whole thing, and she didn't want to screw anything up any more than it already was. "My door's open," she said quietly. "But think about it a little bit. For me." Stretching up, she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "Make sure it's what you want."
Storm and Sorrow: He nodded slowly, "I'll sleep on it tonight," he decided, lifting a hand to gently cup her cheek, brushing his thumb over her lips and oh god, he wanted to kiss her, but.. she was right. It was important to think about it.
Lupine Shadows: She kissed his thumb softly before she drew away from him. "Goodnight, Roland," she said quietly, and she smiled gently to him. It was sad and hopeful all at the same time, and she turned away to walk out of the kitchen.
Storm and Sorrow: "G'night, Rory," he murmured softly, just watching her go.
